More stuff I have made...

For ages I have been thinking of doing some cross stitch again, I say again but it was almost 20 years ago when I last did it and then I think it was some dogs for my mum which she later rejected.
So with this memory deep rooted inside here are some recent attempts:
The Boo Fucking Hoo one is ace and often something I want to shout at whingey friends.

This one is for twinny and her flat.
Talking of twinny, she recently got engaged on hearing the news the first thing I did was buy a shit load of bias binding from ebay. 1200m of it and started making bunting. I ruddy love bunting. The plan for the wedding is to have a party in a field, decorated with lots and lots of bunting. Here is what I have done so far:
not even made a dent in the 1200m.

It was my weird obsession of bunting which inspired this tote bag:

I also got to use up lots of scraps of fabrics.
I went for a wander near where I live and came across this amazing wool (will find out the name) It was brilliant and in amazing colours. Although it is not cheap I picked up 2 balls, each making one scarf each, which is long enough to double over and wrap round your neck.
This is in great Autumnal colours.

This is in lots of different pinks, which reminds me of my hair.
I am going to carry on with the cross stitch and bunting for now and will try and get a dress done for twinny.
Thanks for looking and I will be back again soon with more things I have made.

Tote bags & other things...

I have an abundance of tote bags, they are so handy and as we all know much better than plastic bags, I always make sure there is one in my handbag ready for when I go to the shops. So I purchased some plain tote bags to decorate.
The only idea I had in mind was a crafty theme, but after a bit like most plans I changed my mind, here are some of them:

Pop Art girl with Speech Bubble "LOLZ", as I explained to the guy at work: retro prints with a modern twist. Or some crap like that.

This one is double sided speech bubble LOLZ/SKILLZ.

Theses ones are pop art girl with red lips and a BLAH BLAH speech bubble.

The tea time tote design is appliqued on.
Each tote bag measures:
42cm H x 37cm W
Handle length: 67cm
Each bag is for sale £4 incl postage, request welcome.
In other news:
I made another dress, woo.
This one is halter neck with a rounded lined skirt.
The fabric is black with pink polka dots and lined with pink.

When I was in London I picked up this pretty red and white striped bead, makes a great pendant. Also in black and white stripes.

With the odd bits of hungry caterpillar fabric left over I whizzed up a purse

and matching bag. YAY!

That is it for now, I think.

11 June 2010

This week I have been...

...making presents for my new niece Hatty.

The first is a smock dress. My first attempt, so lots to learn for my next go. It's made from some fantastic Hungry Caterpillar pattern fabric which I found in a local fabric store.

Straps: tie straps.
Skirt top: smocking front and back.
Skirt: slightly A-lined.
All to do now, is hope it fits.

I also made Hattie some bunting, spelling her name:

The flags are made from the left overs from the dress, the letters and binding are made from red and white polka dot fabric.

Each flag is approx: 15cm wide and 14cm long.
The bunting is 165cm long.

I really enjoy making these presents and hope Hattie likes them. Now I have attempted smocking, I think I will keep practising.

This week I also made 16m of french themed bunting, no photos yet as it is decorating a Route Master bus on it's way to Le Mans.
Honk Honk!

*Update* Here is the bunting on the routemaster:

Sew and Sew Blogger

No blog for nearly two months. Tut tut to me.

My normal excuse is that I have been too busy making and doing, this time is the same but I have also been having loads of fun going to gigs, ATPeee and Primavera in Barcelona!

So here, is some of the bits and bobs I have made over the last two month:

An A for Ashli, must try harder B+ she wants eyes on it. No it's no a neck rest. Haha!
Some more button hair clips. A red one for twinny.
I found these feathers in among lots of crafty things so turned them into earrings, I also had some plates still hanging around so picked up a sherry glass and made another cake stand. Mmm just need to fill it with cakes.
I've got a whole cupboard full of bags, stuffed to the brim with scraps of fabrics. So used some to make a pink Rosette brooch and a elephant for my new niece, Harriet May Kathryn.
I picked this cat bead up in a little good find craft shop in Bristol. Popped in on a chain and made a lovely, original necklace. I love playing scrabble so turned a found tile in to a pedant. 3 points for C YAY this sits on a chain with a tea pot brooch I found on http://folksy.com !

I loved the "time for tea" fabric I found on ebay and had enough left over to make a top for twinny. I am pretty excited as I was shown how to do smocking the other day.

"Make today, wear tomorrow" an amazing retro pattern twinny found for me. I did indeed: "Make today wear tomorrow" I liked the one I made twinny (on the left) so much, that I made myself one the very next day.
I got this book: http://www.amazon.co.uk/S-E-W-Everything-Workshop-Diana-Rupp/dp/0761139737/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1275409847&sr=8-1 a few months back after looking through my friends copy. It is great and I've picked up loads of tips and it comes with about 10 patterns, including one for these wrap around skirt and one for a cape! Amazing!

My sister asked if I would make her and a friend some superhero costumes so they could take part in the world record attempt of most people dressed as, you've guessed it: SUPERHEROES!
I made a Wonder Woman costume and a Bananaman one.

Still Liking the "Time for tea fabric" I made twinny a Knitting Needle Wrap, to match the top. Of course.
A red and white polka dot apron, with bag for my sister.
I got this pink and black checked material for the cape I made, having some left I made this bag. Looks nice but needs some tidying up, but not bad for my first attempt.
A t-shirt into a halterneck. Yay.
So that is it for now. Will try and get back on the blogging, so will not be as long next time!
Thanks for taking a look!
